Rainbodhi Singapore is a spiritual friendship group dedicated to fostering mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom within the LGBTQIA+ community and beyond. Rooted in the teachings of the Buddha, we create a safe and supportive space for meditation, Dhamma discussions, and social connection, embracing the diversity of all beings. Everyone is welcome—regardless of race, gender, sexuality, ability, or spiritual background.
Our name, Rainbodhi, reflects our commitment to harmony and awakening: the rainbow symbolizes the beautiful diversity of our community, while bodhi represents the path to enlightenment and the realization of our interconnectedness.
The three books from Rainbodhi Singapore are more than just publications — they are a heartfelt effort to create a more inclusive and understanding Buddhist community while building bridges with other queer religious groups in Singapore. These books are meant to open minds, challenge misconceptions, and offer a space for learning and self-reflection. They serve as a guide for both personal growth and ethical living, reminding us that compassion and acceptance are at the heart of our shared humanity.
Welcoming the Rainbow is Rainbodhi’s new resource promoting awareness and understanding of diversity for Buddhists in temples, organisations and retreat centres. It introduces basic LGBTQIA+ terminology and explains practical steps Buddhist organisations can take to help make Buddhist spaces more safe and welcoming for LGBTQIA+ people.
The guide is produced by Rainbodhi LGBTQIA+ Buddhist Community, a spiritual friendship group and advocate for more inclusion and diversity in the broader Buddhist community. Written by Rainbodhi founder, Bhante Akāliko and filled with gorgeous illustrations by Venerable Yodha, the booklet was made with input from LGBTQIA+ Buddhists and printed with the generous support of donors from around the world.
Events in Singapore are conducted on a semi-regular basis. Follow our Telegram or Instagram for more details.
A great opportunity to get to know LGBTQIA+ Buddhists who practice Dharma, and are interested in meditation. Sharing our insights as we practice the way of life.
We are a peer-led study group that usually focuses on a 5 - 10 minutes multimedia presentation. It could be reading an excerpt from a book, or watching a short video that related to the messages of Dharma.
